sudden addition to the family

I just discovered that my mother has another daughter!

I came home yesterday and was hurriedly introduced to a tallish girl with the most lifeless eyes. Her name was Fatima. Asocial being that I am, I forced a smile and dashed into the bedroom.

After she had gone my mother told me that she was her adopted daughter. She had apparently adopted her years ago.
Why did you take so long to tell me?
Answer: I had told you...you weren't listening, as usual.
Can't argue.

Fatima was living in the orphanage next to our house. Now she has moved out, got a job, is in love with a guy. And what's more, even the guy loves her back! Doesnt say much about my life, I'm sure.

My mum had approved of the boy and his family and now she was getting her married.

One good thing about this is that now that mommy dearest has fulfilled her lifelong ambition of getting a daughter married, she won't be pestering me for a while atleast. I hope.........

Anyways, I was telling this to my friend and she brought up the possibility that even I may be adopted. And why not? Maybe I'm Dawood's daughter! Even he is short. Wow. I must have been very tiny and weak when I was born. He must have thought I won't survive for long. And so he exchanged me. And maybe I can sell this story to the highest bidder and makes lots of money. And maybe I can use it to make my next film. Or buy that quaint lil sea facing house on Malabar Hill that I always wanted. Or just fund my education. Or maybe, I should just sign out now. Gnite.
